Southern Bell Telephone - Barbara began her career, when she graduated high school. She started with Southern Bell as an operator and advanced to installation and teacher on switchboards. She taught classes to Sou Bell employees and also customers, where she installed switchboards.
Barbara represented Southern Bell at many social and charitable events: scout troups, hospitals, muscular dystrophy and disabled groups including Special Olympic Games. She went to functions as a clown "No Pockets" . She was very active with "The Telephone Pioneers of America".
A picture of "No Pockets" was inscribed on her headstone and The Telephone Pioneers of America dedicated a Gazebo (in her memory) at Miller Oaks Retirement Village in Mauldin, SC.
Barbara never married. She watched the children around her mother. Every child that knew her, loved her. Barbara decided to dedicate her life to try and
be like her mother. She liked all children, visited them in hospitals, at home and invited them to visit and use her swimming pool. She bought things to give those
whose parents couldn't afford them.
She played a big part with 'Scout Troups'.
