Albert Sutherland was buried under a single headstone with nine (9) of ten other victims who drowned at Harper's Ferry, Abbeville Co, SC, when the ferry sank, One body (16 year old Charlie Meschine) was never recovered. L. Fant wrote a ballad, "The Easter Drowning in the Savannah" Thomas Bradshaw, lone survivor, blamed the accident on weak anchor post, strong winds and heavy rains.
