Mr. Ralph E. Sutherland, Jr.
Oct. 6, 1922 -- Aug. 10, 2004 ANDERSON, S.C. -- Mr. Ralph Elmoy Sutherland, Jr., age 81, husband of Eunice Adelia Collins Sutherland, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Anderson, SC on October 6, 1922, Mr. Sutherland was a son of the late Ralph Elmoy Sutherland, Sr., and Annie Belle Bolt Sutherland. He was a retired Poultryman and Cattleman in Anderson County and was also retired from BASF Corporation Fibers Division. He was a United States Marine Corps World War II veteran having served in the Soloman Islands, South Pacific. His memberships include, Hiram Masonic Lodge #68, York Rite Bodies, the Scottish Rite, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, the American Legion Post #14, and the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and the McLees Sunday School class. In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by three sons, Randall Sutherland and his wife, Vickie of Johnson City, TN, David Sutherland and his wife, Shari of Evans, GA and Perry Sutherland and his wife, Cathy of Anderson, SC; two brothers, James Sutherland and Robert Sutherland, both of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren, Lindsey, Katie, Bradley, Garrett, Natalie and Nicole. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Tom Turner. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson with Military and Masonic Rites. Serving as pallbearers are sons, Randall, David and Perry Sutherland and nephews, Steve Sutherland, Mike Collins, Bobby Collins. The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2004. The family will be at the residence, 3824 Dobbins Bridge Road, Anderson, SC. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. THE MCDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME, Anderson is in charge of arrangements.
