Luther Calvin and Louisa Margaret were married 22 August 1866, and began housekeeping in the Big Bend of Nolichucky River in Unicoi County, Tennessee. This was on Robert Franklin Hamilton Land Grant, at the border of Cherokee Indian land.
Luther Calvin Patterson acquired two hundred acres of land on Crab Creek from Joseph Hamilton in 1885 and in 1890 he purchased from Ida Ann Richardson twenty one and one half acre near Hendersonville. Faith Tabernacle was built on this by his son Sherman Patterson, who served as pastor for many years.
