Harry Nathan Blake was born in New Hampshire on February 17, 1865. He came to Brevard from Concord, New Hampshire to visit a long time friend and merchant, Frank C. Clement. Henry liked the area and decided to buy a farm in the Cathy's Creek community and to erect a building there. A few months later he sold the property to the County to be used as "The County Home" for their elderly. In the meantime he purchased the Country Store and Grist Mill at Celica from Mr. C. R. Sharp. Belle met him at Church in the summer of 1916, and they were married on October 25, 1917. In March of that year, Harry had purchased ten acres on Cathy's Creek and had a house built there which was finished by the time they were married.
In 1926, they bought 16 acres of land on Route 64, and built the house called "Hampshire Heights" where they lived until Harry Blake passed away on April 23, 1932, at the age of 67.
Belle Blake, with the help of her father and two children. continued to run the store and the grist mill. The grist mill burned down in 1936, and Belle sold the store in 1940.
Rev. Rogers was a baptist minister who had served as pastor of churches in both North and South Carolina. It was at one of the revivals that he was conducting that he and Bell were introduced in 1959,
Twenty-eight years after the death of Harry, Ida Belle married the Rev. B.N. Rogers on October 8 1960. The ceremony was preformed in her home by Rev. Carl Rogers, a Baptist minister and the son of the groom.
Rev. B. N. Rogers remained active in the ministry until shortly before he passed away on August 9, 1966. Ida Belle was born at the turn of the century, and was a devoted mother and Christian lady who lived a happy and fruitful life. She lived to see her children, grandchildren and some of the great grandchildren grow up before she passed away at the age of 89.
