Obituary taken from the Hendersonville Times News paper:
T.E. Osteen, 81, of Mt. Olive, Dies at Home
Thomas E. Osteen, 81, resident of the Mt. Olive community, died today at his home after a period of declining health.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Revs. Weston School, Grover Beddingfield and Ernest Blythe officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery, with grandsons as pallbearers.
The body will lie in state for 30 minutes. The family will recieve friends at Thomas Shepherd Funeral Home from 7until 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Osteen was a native of Henderson County, son of the late David and Nancy Tabor Osteen. He was a farmer and a member of the Mt. Olivet Church and had served as a deacon for some 40 years. He was a former member of the county board of education.
Surviving are four sons, Carl and Donno of Zirconia, Harley of East Flat Rock and Frank Osteen of Hendersonville; five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Taylor and Mrs. Ella Taylor of Zirconia, Mrs. Blanche King of Greer, S.C., and Mrs Eufaula Stepp of East Flat Rock, and Mrs. Hazel Osteen of Zirconia; a sister, Mrs. W.A. Drake of Hendersonville; one brother, Kimsey Osteen of Mountain Home, and 30 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
The family will be at the residence of Carl Osteen of Zirconia.
