Mrs Roxanna Patterson Markham --
Funeral Services for Mrs. Roxie Patterson Markham, 81, widow of Mitchell M. Markham, will be conducted by the Rev. J. Belvin Greene today at 4:30 pm at The Mackey Mortuary. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Pallbearers wil be J.U. Patterson, Cecil Patterson, Floyd Kimbrell, Grady Patterson, Seldon Shipman and Sinyard Lister.
Honorary Escort will be L.O. Wade, Dr. John Holliday, Dr. Landrum I. McCarrell, J.C. Mangum, B.O. Busbee and W.H. Patterson.
Mrs. Markham died Tuesday at 6:15 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs H.G. Miller, on McElhaney Road near Travelers Rest Baptist Church. She had been ill for six weeks.
She was born in Transylvania County, N.C. and was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Hamilton Patterson. She had made her home in Greenville County for more than 51 years.
She was a charter member of the Eden's Holiness Baptist Church and active in work there as long as health permitted.
Surviving are two daughters, (Virgia) Mrs. Miller and (Thalia) Mrs. J.B. Thompson of Greenville; one son, Loran Markham of Glen Burnie, Maryland; one brother, W. M.[William Martin] Patterson of Hendersonville, N.C.; five grandchildren and five g-grandchildren.
The body is at the home of Mrs. Miller and will be returned to the mortuary at 2:30 p.m.

Roxie died at the home of her daughter Virgia (Mrs. H.G. Miller) on McElhaney Road, near Travelers Rest Baptist Church, at 6:15 a.m.,
Tuesday, July 22, 1957, age 81. She had been ill for six weeks.
She was a Charter member of Eden's Holiness Baptist Church, and
was active in the work of the church, as long as her health permitted.
The obit reads born in Transylvania County, N.C. but her father, John A.
Patterson resided at Crab Creek, Henderson County. The County Line is
nearby. The J.U. Patterson, pallbearer, very likely Jay Hugh Patterson, son
of Bunyan and nephew of Roxie P. Markham. He was living in Williamston.
