David and family lived in the Wilscot community in Fannin County, GA in 1860. Listed as age 28, Nancy 19, Amanda age 2, and Andrew 3 months. His mother, Nancy, age 71 was in home 1860. Census 1900, born Aug 1830, married 42 yrs, 10 ch, 10 living.
He was a gunsmith and blacksmith, also made muzzle loading rifles. He refused to bear arms against his fellow Americans and with many others was classified as deserters. They were harassed by the Confederates and once his plow-horse was stolen. Nancy, the pioneer wife, took her rifle and reclaimed the horse.
