John worked at Ecusta for a short time, then he and Essie moved to Asheville in 1943, when he worked for the VA hospital.
In the fall of 1953, John, his wife Essie and their young son Daniel moved to Pontiac, Michigan. John was employed by Fleet Carriers, delivering new GM cars until he retired in 1989. He and Essie now live in West Union, South Carolina.
