Frederick E. Taylor
Dr. Frederick E. Taylor was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and a son of the late A.E. Taylor and Thelma Osteen Taylor. He received his baccalaureate from UNC, Chapel Hill, his master's degree from Furman University and his doctorate from UNC, Greensboro. He was a principal in the Henderson County Public School System for 18 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Fist Baptist Church where he was a member of the Lightseekers Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Fred was a member of the Western North Carolina Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, served on the board of directors of the Educational Foundation of Henderson County Public Schools, was past president of the Western District Retired School Personnel, was part of the Johnson Farm Advisory Committee and a charter member of Green River Volunteer Fire Dept.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Katharine Hazeltine Taylor; two sons, Frederick E. Taylor, Jr. of Washington, DC, and David F. Taylor of Charlotte; two brothers, Carl T. Taylor and James C. Taylor of Tuxedo; a sister, Thelma Taylor Lindsey of Tuxedo; two nephews, Keith Taylor and Bradford Lindsey; and a niece, Glenda Lindsey Smith.
