Karen Eugenia Butler Emond of Arden and Jerry Edward Sitton of Asheville, were
married at 2pm Saturday on a small island in a lake near the home of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Butler of Arden. The Rev. Fred Werhan conducted the ceremony.
Reception followed at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr.Harry & Rebecca Green Sitton of Asbury Road in Enka.
Mrs Karen Butler Sitton graduated from Mars Hill College and is a computer operator of Carolina Warehouse of Fletcher.
Mr Sitton is a graduate of Blanton's Business College Traffic Management School and is employed by Pilot Transportation of Asheville as operations manager.
Karen & Jerry have purchased Janet Butler-Stephens part of the Aleane Newman
Butler's home in Feb 2004. They hope to move in by late March and keep the property
in the family name another 30 years.
Karen E. Sitton, Program Assistant (GS-7) in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Support Team has a long history of "self development" which paid off recently with great rewards! She graduated with top honors from Mars Hill College in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Business Administration! She thanks her family and her supervisors at the Medical Center for their
support while she pursued this degree taking night classes.
Karen's no stanger to night classes. She attended Cecil's Junior College at night graduating in 1983 with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Marketing Management. but that's not all! Karen continued to take night classes and in 1984 she graduated with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Accounting
Her Federal Government career goes back to 1983, when she was first hired as GS-4 Patient's Funds Clerk in Medical Administration Service.
The VA Medical Center Asheville recognized Karen's contribulations twice, when she was selected as Medical Center Employee of the Month in april 1995 and 2000!
Sice 1998 Karen has been cocoordinator of the Maerican Red Cross Blood Donor drives each year.The Hospital has four blood drives each year. She is gratified to report this facility has "reached or exceeded every ARC Donor Drive goal to date.
